Homework: Week 7

Your classic book task is due on Thursday 25th November- please email me a link to your prezi before 5:00pm (janine_keaton@ais.com.sg)
We will be working on the features of classic books in class.
At home you will need to complete the second part of the task - this can be presented in any mode you wish.
To help you complete the second part of the task - identify all of your features and explanations before you start your prezi.
You need to show me evidence that you have completed this task on Thursday 25th November. We will begin presentations the following week

Questions:	Classic – Title: Treasure Island -Author:	Modern – Title: -Author:
1. Describe the time and place in which your novel is set. What clues within the book tell us this?
2. Who are the main characters in your book? List the names and a short description of their personality traits.
3. Describe the significant relationships between the main characters.
4. Who is your favourite character and why? Or - Who is the character that you can most closely relate to and why?
5. Describe the style of language and literary devices that the author uses. a) Find examples of; colourful adjectives, similes, metaphor, dramatic irony, etc.. b) Find a quote (with page number) for each example.
6. Is your book an example of ‘classic’ or ‘modern’ literature? You must use evidence to back up your stance. For example; has your book stood the ‘test of time’? Are there theme’s that will transcend time?
7. After reading the book, write a short note to a friend describing the book. Include a description of the genre, setting and difficulty level. You need to also include the following information; What were the main themes in the book? What was the central conflict? How was it resolved? Describe your feelings towards the novel. Did you enjoy it, why or why not? Did you find it easy to get into? Did you like it the more that you read it? Would you read more books by the same author, or of a similar genre?

• Add a picture of your classic book
• Write all Bibliographical Details
• Write a paragraph predicting what you think the story will be about.
• Read the first chapter. Find a great character or setting description. Type this on your page
• Read someone else's entry - give an opinion of the book they are reading.

Hmmmm...... I'm not really sure what this book will be about but I am intrigued. From looking at the cover, reading the book and seeing The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen I think it could be about a man who conducts experiments with art and somehow manages to gain immortality through linking his life force to a painting. It looks like it could be a little gruesome... Stay tuned!
